A Message from Wellness Activist
Donna Martini
Love... an entity unto itself
Maybe it is time to realize, as a society and in general, that we readily buy into hate even though most of us know that buying into Love would give us strength and resolve. Most often, it takes a tragedy to pull us together and show our humanity when in reality, we are instinctively loving and compassionate beings who thrive when sharing those emotions. We often lean politically and stay disagreeably divided when we are more than capable of making sense of all sides and creating symbiotic solutions. And when we have the opportunity to come together to conquer an issue, more often we stand apart ready to conquer each other. All of this so we can be right. Who among us, though, wants to start doing right? Many unity-minded people are asking, "What force of nature or role model, movement, or tragedy will it take to bring us back to Love and Grace?"

I'm a mother, grandmother, and intuitive being who believes more and more Americans want political balance and harmony, and we believe it can only happen through Love, tolerance, and unity. As a wellness coach and activist, I feel compelled to help in some way, and so here it is--my contribution--a movement led by a mouse! Why a mouse, you might ask; because who would be intimidated by a fictitious cartoon creature; something so small it seems innocuous and inconsequential yet still able to carry a message so big, it can rock our country. And hasn't history proven that one small gesture can actually create great change?

In my lifetime, I remember so many profound movements started by one person, idea, or object... A woman on a bus who refused to give up her seat inadvertently led to the acceptance of equality for all races; a little red ribbon worn on a lapel at a televised award ceremony brought understanding and compassion to thousands with AIDS. When the ribbon turned pink, breast cancer research filled the minds of millions of Americans. The mother who lost her child turned MADD and brought about legislation that, to this day, has completely changed the way we view and handle drunk-driving. And not that long ago, an ice bucket made ALS a household acronym, not to mention a ton of cash.
We all know our health is declining, our monetary needs are rising, and as our country further divides, little is being done about all of it. We are capable of rising out of the stressful state we now exist in, but we seem to be waiting for the current leadership to guide us out. Some are asking and hoping for new leadership to step in and show us the way. My contention is we shouldn't be waiting when we have a responsibility to our families and ourselves. We should be taking responsibility for the direction we are headed in, personally and as a society. It doesn't make sense to wait any longer.
Scientifically speaking, we are all beings made of intermingling molecules, which are constantly sharing and transforming our mental and emotional energy. From this energy standpoint, there is nothing separating us from one another, not even our skin. There is nothing keeping us from combining our spiritual and mental prowess either. If we decide to make healing our goal, then we need to understand that unity is the only way. If unity is the way, then we need to bring Love back into focus. Thankfully, we only need a small percentage of people to get the majority started. Who is willing to put wellness first? Who wants to admit that Love will guide us out of the mess we now find ourselves in? Will this attempt to use Love to unify seem like gushy, over-the-top emotional bosh from a well-intentioned but crazy lady turned activist? Well, I will admit to being just crazy enough to think we will affect positive change with one intention and this one emotion. But so you know where my 'crazy' comes from, here are just a few of the world leaders, writers, and philosophers that have infused my brain with Love bosh over the years. They promoted it first, and I'm convinced, wholeheartedly, that we should be doing the same.

If we can all agree that Love is what we all have in common, then what we don’t have in common won’t really matter anymore.
Donna Martini
We have heard, over the years, from the most amazing minds in the world that Love is not corny; Love is a living, breathing entity with power and mighty all its own. It is everything inside and outside of us. It is what everyone strives for. In fact, sharing it is probably why we exist. If you read through some of the quotes I've shared here, you might have felt the energy behind their words resonating with you--physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually--because that sentiment is based on what is real and truthful. Perhaps, though, right now in this time in history, many of us are just too darn human and overwhelmed by negative energy to do something about this truth. We feel beholden to what exists and by what is going on around us; we are waiting to see what is next instead of faithfully believing in our ability to overcome the issues our country is facing. Makes me wonder, did politics take over where Love should have been taking hold? Most people believe it is too late to bridge this political divide. They emphatically deny that either side would be willing, ready, or able to come together to heal our greatest woes. I disagree.

Margaret Meade said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." I say, "Those who do and have done do not wait for someone else to get it done!" They see what needs to be accomplished, and they set out to do it. Helen Keller said, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” Her words ring in my ears, letting me know that taking this step with MantraMouse is appropriate. It is the one thing I can do. And there are others who want to participate but may not know how to start. I want to offer just one small way we can share Love... one small way that will lead to great change.

Believe that our Love can and will make an impact. Believe in its ability to vanquish all that is less than itself. If you know, see, and feel the result of the hate and ridicule, resentment and anger, fear and trepidation, and you want it resolved; take heart, literally! Understand that the desire to share Love is absent in so many people, places, and situations but also realize Love can spread faster and have an even greater impact than any human contrivance. And Love is already in action! Some of us ask ourselves daily to replace our ridicule and judgment with compassion and tolerance. We are deciding to propagate Love energy in our own little way; bringing it to our school, community, house of worship, business, trade group, and political faction. We know from innate wisdom that we are all people who desire to be--because we were created to be--Loved. We may think there is only strength in numbers, but let us remember, one is a number too! We are the "ones" who make up the whole, and a whole bunch of strength will be gained when we believe in our own ability to create positive change.

Why would anyone want to remain simply human and in a negative state of being when they can exist exponentially blessed and soulfully lifted? Perhaps someone who chooses to not exist in Love doesn't know how to retrieve it or remain in it... doesn't know how it feels to be lifted by it either. We can change that dynamic by offering them the potential for change within themselves. Those of us in the know can decide to lead by example and utilize our experiences, qualities, and gifts in such a way that no one will be alienated by our energy and earnest desire to spread some goodness. Instead, they will be inspired by us, our words, and our actions. They will feel our earnest need to put our best selves forward, and they will want to aspire to what will begin to feel good to them. Simplicity will start our movement; a small group of well-meaning individuals will spread its energy, and Love will be our guiding force.
It will be YourLove and MyLove that lead us into a better future for ourselves, our children, and our world.
