Glean what we can...

There are people in this world who sit on a rock and meditate all day; they live in a monastery and make it their job to pray. I'm not one of them.

There are people in this world who were born with so much kindness, they ooze of good energy. They speak softly and are so complimentary! I'm not one of them.

There are people in this world who always know exactly how to use their words to make any situation come out right. They consistently respond to another's insults with an appropriate comeback, so warm and polite. Yeah... I'm not one of them either!

I'm the person who has learned that life is so much better when we live unfettered... when we heal from what went on in the past, so triggers don't own us and negative emotions don't last.

I have come to understand there is good to be had by all the nonsensical, inappropriate, even malicious behavior that certain others are inclined to do. Instead of getting mad, we can actually be glad to have the time to examine and review.

I've also become the person who has come to know that a mental commitment is needed in order to emotionally grow. That while we are still in human skin, we need daily to purposefully step into our spiritual horizon. And on the days we lack the wherewithal to act our best, it's okay... life is not a contest. We just need to do the best we can do, and as they say, to thine own self be true.

So, if you are like me and want to pave the way for a healthy new point of sway, then repeat this phrase, today, with an intentional smile: "I am choosing to glean and hold onto everything in my life that is truly worthwhile."
